Vacations over.... kind of.

Well after a fabulous week at down in Long Beach vacation is over and we have moved up to Federal Way to see my nephew's graduation tomorrow.

It was a nice week, we spent a day checking out things in Long Beach and took Bug to see the movie UP, which was pretty cute. On Wed we went and hiked the "mosquito coast," at the state park at the end of Long Beach peninsula. When we got out of the truck there were some mosquitoes buzzing around but we didn't think much about it and headed out, we ended up plagued with mosquitoes. It was a pretty hike but the bugs were so bad there was no chance to enjoy it, a ways along we found a side trail that took us back to the road and headed back to the truck as quickly as we could, chased by mosquitoes the whole time. Don ended up with at least 2 dozen bites, Bug had 2 bites and I didn't find any bites. Got to love those mosquitoes.

On Thur we spent the day down in Astoria, we went to the Flavel house, a museum in Ilwacca (sp.) and another one in Astoria. Bug had a great time at the Flavel house, they had a game where you read a out a riddle for each room and find the object in the room that is the answer. It kept him entertained throughout the museum. They also had a museum map, that had a question that you had to look for the answer in the museum and if you found the answer than you would earn a stamp and for every 3 stamps you were entered in a drawing and got a small prize. Bug thought that was pretty cool.

On Friday we just relaxed around the Condo, Don and Bug went to the pool in the morning while I did some laundry and got things ready to pack up, then we had lunch and in the afternoon we all went and hung out at the pool.

Today we got up, loaded up the truck and headed out around 9, we ended up taking the scenic route back to I-5 via Long View. We stopped for lunch in Chehalis/Centralia and went to the Helly Hansen outlet, where we found some fabulous deals. I got a couple new sets of long johns at 80% off, we got a new 1 pc snowsuit for Bug for 25.oo and Don picked up a really nice jacket.

We got to Federal Way around 3 and checked into the hotel, then headed to Tacoma to see Don's son DJ, we had a really nice visit with him and his mom Robin, Bug said hi to his brother than ran off to play with his brother and sister. DJ seemed to remember Don as soon as Don started talking to him he ran over and wanted him to pick him up and play, it was nice to see.

After that we went and got my dad and his wife and took them out to eat at Tokyo, one of those restaurants that cook the food in front of you. The food was delicious. Then we headed to the Tacoma mall to Picture People and got pictures of all of us, to help remind Bug of Grandma and Grandpa Streb, It was a fun evening and nice spending time with my dad, since we only see him every couple of years.

A day at the fair.

We had a busy day today! 1st we tried to get a little schoolwork done, then Bug and I headed to our church for "Breakaway". This is a time for all the moms to get together once a month. We get to spend some time in prayer, some time talking and getting to know one another a little better and of course spend sometime eating, because when can a big group of women get together and there not be food involved. It was a lot of fun and they have changed the format somewhat this year, so it should be interesting. After Breakaway we headed to the fair and met Blue. Bug had such a blast riding the rides. He is of course now more that big enough for all of the kiddie rides, he even branched out and rode on some of the bigger rides in the afternoon. He was a little nervous at 1st so I told him to ask this girl if he could sit be her. Of course she said yea and you can see him chatting her up in the 1st pic. (If he stays as outgoing as he is now his teen years should be a breeze. ha ha

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good gift frenzy.

Merry Christmas or at least merry Christmas eve. Bug is sleeping in this morning so I figured I would catch up on my blogging. Everything is basically ready around here. I do need to go pick up a few food items but other than that everything is done. Of course just as a I write that i think of 5 other things I need to do: wrap a couple more presents, stuff some stockings, get a goody tray ready for Blue's work, etc.... We will be having Christmas at our house tomorrow, the only downer is that Blue has to work today and tomorrow. You gotta love the transit system around here, (he is a bus driver, if I haven't mentioned that before). So today we will run around and finish things up, then go to our Christmas Eve Church Service at 5. Then when Blue gets home we will cook up some pizza and after dinner we will open our stockings. In the morning we will just be hanging out until he gets home around 1 then we will have a nice lunch/brunch and then the gift frenzy will begin. Actually

No Bug for the week

This week Bug is going to a VBS at a local church, it runs from 9-3. Which is very nice in a way but also very strange. I took him in this morning and hung out with him for a few minutes while he got adjusted, then I went to the grocery store. Which was all fine but when I had to pass back by the church to head home it felt weird not having him, then all day at home I went back and forth between enjoying my time getting things done around the house and checking to see if it was time to pick him up yet. I got there to pick him up about 15 min early and waited around anxiously, when he finally came out he looked so tired, he seemed to have a good time but he did say "they sang for HOOUURRRS" and did not get to go out and play on the playground, but he is looking forward to going back tomorrow. This will be a strange week without him home all day. But it will be good practice for him because he will be going to a campfire day camp in a couple of weeks where he will be picked up
