Memorial Weekend

Class is over

I finally finished my Pre-service training for becoming a foster parent yesterday. I am glad that I know people who have adopted through the foster care system because these classes are very depressing. The way they talk you would think every child in the system is irretrievably broken. But now that the class is done I am getting very excited to move forward with this and get a little girl to do little girl things. Yeah someone new to shop for!

Garage Sales & a Parade

Image
Today I finally had my garage sale, I have been dying to clear out a bunch of stuff around the house. Honestly I would like to move and leave everything hear and start over in a new house. But since I couldn't do that , this was the next best thing. The problem was that I also love to go to garage sales and one of my favorite community garage sales was also today. So I got up at 6:30 this morning, went downtown to drop off our chairs for the Torchlight Parade ( I love that you can drop off chairs to hold your spot for the parade and still have them there in the evening). Then I went up to the community sale and looked around for a bit, I picked up a couple slides and a kitchen. Then I headed home to get my sale set up. My uncle Martin got there about a half hour after me to help. I had already sold the biggest thing by then, the playhouse climber that I got for free a couple of weekends ago, sold 1st thing while I was setting up for 250.00 not bad for free. The sale turned out pre

Fun Day

Today was an especially fun day with my boy. We got up and got dressed and headed out to Break Away a gathering for moms at my church. Just as we were leaving Bug saw the post man and asked me to go grab the mail from him, he has been waiting for his paycheck from the commercial he did last month. So I ran out and grabbed it and lo and behold there was his paycheck, he was so excited to finally get it. So then we headed out to church, which is always a nice time of eating and chatting, afterwards Bug wanted to go play in the big grassy area out in front of our Church, so I hung out in the car to read a magazine for a bit. It was a really windy day out and I suddenly remembered that I had a kite in the trunk. So Bug and I spent about an hour flying the kite. Bug flying his kite. Then we remembered his check and we headed to the bank for him to deposit it. I like him to do as much as possible, so I had him sign his check and take it up to the counter and tell them how much he wanted in

Our TV star

Bug's commercial is now on TV and we had our 1st friend tell us they saw it on TV. My friend Angie, her son is in the same school-at-home class with Bug, saw it this weekend. She said she had her cell phone in hand ready to call when she decided 11:00pm was probably to late to call. I said I probably was still awake but I definitely would have wondered. We also got our copy of the commercial today, we got rid of cable a couple of months ago so there wasn't much chance of us seeing it on TV, so we got a copy from the production company. The commercial is very cute, it starts out with Bug's scene and they show them in the opposite order of how they filmed them. Bug's jump that he does is especially cute because he jumps and pumps his arm in the air just as the announcer says something about "empowerment".

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day! I have had a really nice mother's day this year. My son is now old enough to understand the significance to the day. His mantra for the day was "it's your special day". He started the day by making me breakfast (a big bowl of fruit loops) and even shared his own breakfast with me when he poured too much. Then we headed off to church, where he let me choose if he would get to go to class (like he wanted) or go to service with me because "it was my special day," I let him go to class. Then we headed home and picked up Grandma and headed to a restaurant for Champagne Brunch our treat for her every year (Don met us there). Bug helped me pick out food and waited with me in line because "it was my special day." After a delicious brunch we went for a walk along the river trail, then Don headed back to work and we headed home. At home Bug gave me my presents 1st was a vase of flowers (colorful daisies) from him and grandma, 2nd was

Happy Mother's day

Today was Bug's las soccer game of the season. Honestly I'm glad to have it over.

Soccer

Today was Bug's final soccer game for the spring. Apparently in SYSA when you sign up for a team in fall you are automatically signed up for the same team in the spring. So we got a car just before Easter weekend, we got a call from one of the other moms from the team, apparently our coach was no where to be found and they had asked her to take over. I wasn't planning on having Bug participate, but there are only 6 players on a team and we lost one last fall, so with out the coaches son and Bug the team would have been down to only 3. So my uncle has been taking Bug to the practices on Thur and his games on Sat ( I have had to work the last few weeks). So I finally got to see a game today. Bug has improved from last fall, but still spends most of his time wandering about the field, while the other kids chase the ball.
