Life as I know it.

Today was a long day. I made sure to get the ads yesterday and spent the evening pouring through them to decide what stores I needed to hit and what things to get. I narrowed it down to 3 stores to start at: Circuit City, Best Buy and Office Depot. The main thing I was looking for is a laptop for my nephew for his Christmas, Birthday, Graduation gift. He will be heading off for college and you can't do college these days without some kind of computer. So anyways after everyone went home yesterday Blue and I watched a show than I headed to be around 9 and got up at 12 (yes that is 12 midnight) and headed out the door. I 1st ran over to Office Depot where there were about 6-10 people in line already, so I decided to go check out Best Buy and drove by Circuit City along the way (where there was no body in line). Tonight I heard an interesting perspective on the old line "There's no place like home" from the Wizard of Oz. It's the one line that everybody remembers from the movie, but it doesn't resonate with the rest of the movie. Think about it, home is this desolate, grey dust bowl of a place where some nasty old lady is trying to kill your dog and OZ is technicolor. Sure it has its problems; poppy fields, talking trees, flying monkeys but along the way you make friends, good friends. With people that you never even knew existed when you were growing up, straw people, tin people and lions. And you help each other realize that all the things you want to be, you already are and it's fun! It makes me think about all the exciting things in life that we miss because we are too afraid of something new.
