Happy Memorial Weekend.

Image
What a wonderful Memorial Weekend. It got off to a bit of a rocky start though. Bug's play did their stills (pics of the everybody in costume, in their different scenes) on Sat after the play. They were supposed to take an hour but after an hour and 45 min they still weren't done, but we took off anyway. So we ended up getting out to our friends L & K's around 7, just in time for the tail end of dinner. We set up camp and Bug found some of his friends to play with. They rode around in the powerwheels, played in the tree house and bounced on the trampoline. We even had a fire, though it started raining so that closed the evening down early. But our new (to us) camper did really well. The next morning we got up and everybody took turns riding on the ATV's. Bug even rode one of the small ones all by himself, I didn't get a pic of that for some reason. He had a blast though riding with me and then dad. Our friend's own about 7 acres and have made numerous tra

Swims like a fish?

Bug has been doing swimming lessons this week. One of the local colleges runs a swim lesson program and they just started a home school program. The water is so cold that bug has to wear a wetsuit and even with that he shivers the whole time, but he seems to be enjoying it. Swim lessons actually stress me out. Bug is not very driven when it comes to athletic things (I know he is just 5), but he has been is swimming lessons since he was 3. He has taken public, semi-private and private lessons for about 3 years now and he is still no where near swimming . He just finally moved out of the very basic class, the one where they are just trying to make them comfortable in the water. Some days as I am watching him I feel like he is going to be the only one who just never gets it. Even the lesson he is in stresses me out, he is in with 2 barely 4 year old kids (Bug will be 6 in a couple months). The kids his age are off swimming in another area and there he is hanging out with the babies and e

Well Hell week is officially over. That is what they call the opening weekend and the preceding week before the play. It ends up being more like a week and a half. Bug had 2 performances today for local schools. They figure we had about 600 kids between the 2 shows. He had rehearsal last night, because they have to cut about an hour from the shows for the school day performances so they are not over an hour and a half. They completely cut 2 scenes that have pretty much just adults and edited a few others and got it down to about an hour and twenty minutes. Then we had a BBQ in between the 2 shows. I have to say this was probably the funnest day yet, except maybe last night. Bug was the only street boy to show up for rehearsal, (I'm not sure why). So he and I got to run his scenes together and he got to be the leader and say the line, "hey, let's get him," (meaning Sandy). Then we ran around and Annie grabbed me and I fell down and said "Let's get out of here!

One Year Anniversary

My one year anniversary for this blog was 2 days ago, YEAH. It's hard to believe, another year gone by. Life has been busy as usual lately. My mom is in Seattle she left last Mon and will be back on Thur. She went over for a job interview and to look around at the job and housing market. She has figured out that I wasn't lying to her all along. The job market is no better over there and it is a lot more expensive than it is around here for housing. So it looks like she will be staying around here at least for the foreseeable future. I hope this will finally motivate her to go back to school. We will have to wait and see. Bug had his 1st play performance on Friday to a sold out audience. He did fabulous! All the kids did. He has been really enjoying this whole thing, though I have been a little burned out. Since May 7th he has had rehearsal every night (except 2) from around 4:30/5:00 until 9:30/10:00 at night, all the way through the 15th. Then he has had performances on Friday

Our Fabulous Trip

We had a fabulous trip to Seattle last week. We started out late on Sun; 1st we went to church then we stopped by that community garage sale. So we didn't even head out of town until 1:00 or so. Then we stopped in N. Bend and did some shopping. I was in desperate need of some summer shoes and ended up buying 5 or 6 new pairs. Then we headed over to my sister's house and got there around 8:00 and put Bug to bed. So on Monday we started out the day at my favorite bakery in Black Diamo nd they have the best carmel nut donuts in the world, similar to maple bars but a thousand times better. Then we headed to the library to check emails and times and prices for a few things. After that we went to the Experience Music Project (EMP), where bug got to be a serious rocker (see pic on right). He is giving me that "your messing up my vibe," look. He takes his music very seriously. Next we were going to have lunch up at the space needle but they stop serving lunch at 3 and I wasn
