Bug's last game.

Bug had his last game of the basketball season today. It was the funniest game I have ever been to. Bug loves basketball, but he is a pretty spacey kid, so his idea of playing is to dance around the court while the game goes on. Needless to say he rarely gets the ball, since the other boys have figured out its not a great idea to pass it to him, unless you want the other team to get it. Usually if he does get the ball, it's after the other team has scored a point and then he dribbles it down court to where the other team is waiting and then passes it off to one of his teammates.

Well today he was playing as usual and I guess the ref decided he needed some help. SO when Bug got the ball the ref stood in front of him and encouraged him all the way down the court, down to the other basket. He kept the kids from both teams from getting in his way and made them move so he could shoot it, when he missed the basket the ref grabbed the ball and gave it back to him for another shot, he did this like 3 more times before one of the other kids got the ball and took off back down the court. I about cried I was laughing so hard. But apparently that wasn't enough for the ref, so a little later in the game when Bug got the ball again he did the same thing but when Bug continued to miss the shot the ref picked him up and let him slam dunk the ball. It was priceless. Bug was so thrilled to have gotten a basket and be the only one to slam dunk.

I of course will always remember that Ref's kindness to my son. Bug on the other hand being the boy that he is always thinks of others. So when I asked him what he was thinking about while he was playing he answered "good sportsmanship, remember when my friend got hurt (one of his team mates got knocked down during the game) I made sure he was OK and patted him on the shoulder." As a reward he earned a white star today for 'Christ-like behavior'. Gotta love that little Bug.

That is priceless. I love reading about this. I know you told me about it but it is fun to read it too. Bug is just a great kiddo!

We had a busy day today! 1st we tried to get a little schoolwork done, then Bug and I headed to our church for "Breakaway". This is a time for all the moms to get together once a month. We get to spend some time in prayer, some time talking and getting to know one another a little better and of course spend sometime eating, because when can a big group of women get together and there not be food involved. It was a lot of fun and they have changed the format somewhat this year, so it should be interesting. After Breakaway we headed to the fair and met Blue. Bug had such a blast riding the rides. He is of course now more that big enough for all of the kiddie rides, he even branched out and rode on some of the bigger rides in the afternoon. He was a little nervous at 1st so I told him to ask this girl if he could sit be her. Of course she said yea and you can see him chatting her up in the 1st pic. (If he stays as outgoing as he is now his teen years should be a breeze. ha ha

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good gift frenzy.

Merry Christmas or at least merry Christmas eve. Bug is sleeping in this morning so I figured I would catch up on my blogging. Everything is basically ready around here. I do need to go pick up a few food items but other than that everything is done. Of course just as a I write that i think of 5 other things I need to do: wrap a couple more presents, stuff some stockings, get a goody tray ready for Blue's work, etc.... We will be having Christmas at our house tomorrow, the only downer is that Blue has to work today and tomorrow. You gotta love the transit system around here, (he is a bus driver, if I haven't mentioned that before). So today we will run around and finish things up, then go to our Christmas Eve Church Service at 5. Then when Blue gets home we will cook up some pizza and after dinner we will open our stockings. In the morning we will just be hanging out until he gets home around 1 then we will have a nice lunch/brunch and then the gift frenzy will begin. Actually

No Bug for the week

This week Bug is going to a VBS at a local church, it runs from 9-3. Which is very nice in a way but also very strange. I took him in this morning and hung out with him for a few minutes while he got adjusted, then I went to the grocery store. Which was all fine but when I had to pass back by the church to head home it felt weird not having him, then all day at home I went back and forth between enjoying my time getting things done around the house and checking to see if it was time to pick him up yet. I got there to pick him up about 15 min early and waited around anxiously, when he finally came out he looked so tired, he seemed to have a good time but he did say "they sang for HOOUURRRS" and did not get to go out and play on the playground, but he is looking forward to going back tomorrow. This will be a strange week without him home all day. But it will be good practice for him because he will be going to a campfire day camp in a couple of weeks where he will be picked up
