Summer is over.

How sad and how quickly it went, August especially. Bug spent 2 weeks at the local campfire camp. Very nerve wracking for me, but he seems to have enjoyed it. He even did his 1st overnight camp trip without mommy and daddy. The 1st week he was there he had 5 of his best buds there with him. So between me and the other mommies we had a pretty good idea of what the kiddos were up to. You know how it is each kid gives a small part of the story to you, so between all of the small parts we each got we had it figured out. The 2nd week he was the only one to go but ended up with one of his friends from the play that he was in last spring there. So that was nice for him. The funniest thing about camp is that everyday he would come home with no socks on, so at the end of camp i had to go buy him all new socks.

Anyways my friend Brenda had her baby back on the 23rd. She is a beautiful little girl so tiny and pink. So far she is a very peaceful and quiet baby. She came in to work with her mommy today for Brenda's massage, she fell asleep at the end and it was so fun to just hold her and have her sleep on my shoulder.

Bug had a nice treat for his B-day, my friend Tonia came over with her 3 girls and spent the week with us and went to his party. The party went pretty well, it ended up being a pool party at the campfire camp that he went to. Overall it went fine though not as organised as I would have liked. I think next year we will have it somewhere that they do everything for you. We had a good time while the girls were here. We did some shopping, got Bug's 6yr pics taken. Went down to our local Pig Out in the Park celebration, rode rides and a few other things. As you can see by the pic they all had a great time together.

This week we took our last comping trip of the summer and took out our new ATVs for a spin. We looked around for some place to go but ended up just going and camping out on our Friend's property on a little lake about a half hour north of here. Between there place and one of there neighbors that we know they had enough property to play around on. Bug had a great time when I took him out and said "I wish I could do this everyday." Me too Bug, but life moves on.

We started Bug's homeschooling this week. We are using some of the K12 curriculum this year with some other things thrown in for good measure. We are schooling at home this year with the help of one of our local school districts. Bug will go to the school 1 day a week (Mondays) and then school at home the rest of the week. That way he has a regular chance to socialize with the same group of kids. And they are supposed to concentrate on things that are hard to do at home (ie. messy science and art projects, group discussions, etc.) We are trying a new math curriculum this year called Math U See, it is more hands on and real world use then a lot of the other curriculum's out there. We will see how Bug does with that. Since he is now in 1st grade we also added in History, Art and PE. The 1st 2 are from K12 and PE we will just do with teams and lessons. Also the school district gives us 500.00 a year to reimburse us for classes, curriculum and school supplies. Another thing is they have a huge library or curriculum, manipulative's, games, book and lots more that you can check out for no cost and just return at the end of the year. So far things are going smoothly, less stressful this year. Hopefully that will continue, wish us luck.
