A christmas filled day.

Saturday was so much fun. We overslept a bit but still managed to get out of the house on time (actually 3 minutes late according to Don). We got up to the Santa breakfast and found my friend Meegan and her family and joined them in line. After a bit another friend Kim was able to find us and we decided to save two tables so we could all sit by each other.

The party was incredible, it certainly lived up to all the hype my friends had given it and other than the fact that we waited along time for breakfast Ashley loved it. To be fair, they did the activities in shifts and it just so happened that we sat at a table that was in the 3rd round for breakfast. Oh well we'll know better next year and feed the kids at least a light breakfast before we go. The trees were fabulous, each kid gets 2 tickets to put into the boxes at the trees to try to win them. Bug chose a tree with a DSi and a bunch of Mario ornaments and stuff, and Ashley chose a tree with a mini kitchen set and table and chairs and we put the last 2 into ones that had stuff for the whole family. Sadly we didn't have beginners luck and Bug was very bummed not to get that DSi.

It was extremely hard to pick ones to put your ticket in, in the 1st place. They had at least 40 trees with everything from bikes, toys galore, a couple had DS's and DSi's, there were a couple with Ipods and 1 that had like 3 different stereos, portable DVD players with movies and another that had a Wii. My friend Kim's boys won 2 different trees, 1 with a bike and accessories and also the one with the Wii. Which I found very funny since that is what she had already bought for the boys for Christmas.

Besides the trees, we had a delicious breakfast, the kids each got a present, they got to visit Santa and get a picture, then pick out either a stuffed animal or a book (both kids picked the books). They even got to go in a back room and pick out a present for a parent. I told Ashley to pick one for her dad, (she picked him out a decorative house, I guess it will be the thought that counts) and told Bug to pick one for whomever he wanted. He chose me (aren't I loved), but assured me "it's not jewelry this time." I guess I know what he picked out for me at the Santa express the other day. Then as we left we got a mini turkey dinner meal to take home with us for later. Everything was very well done, and we really appreciated all the effort they put into everything. We'll have to sign up right away next year to make sure we can go again.

After the Santa brunch we took Ashley home for a nap and I took Bug over to get his Santa pictures. We did Ashley's last weekend and got a picture of them together with Santa at the Brunch. Then we tried to go over to a make-it, take-it event at Michael's, but they ran out of stuff early, so he didn't get to do them.

When Ashley got up from her nap we got ready to head out to Elk for their Christmas Bon Fire party, we have gone to it every year (except last year), since we moved over here. Last night's party was the best one yet and I love them every year. They upgraded everything this year, even the people it seemed like. It has always been a sort of down home affair, which is why I like it. It reminds me of when I was younger in Montana, just people hanging out and BSing around a big fire. But this year they added a little snack booth in the park and were serving up homemade goodies, also they raffled off a really nice Pampered chef basket. In the past the area where Santa sits has a big tree that the kids decorate and a picnic bench thrown up there for Santa to sit on. This year they had a really nice tree with a proper seat for Santa and some smaller decorative trees around it. Also someone handed out some books and we all stood around the fire and sang Christmas carols while we waited for Santa to come. Then the kids got to go sit up on Santa's lap and tell him what they wanted and then he gave them each a present. It was a little bag, with a big candy cane, a kaleidoscope, a neat pencil and a few other trinkets that the kids just loved. After Santa had given all the kids their bags, they announced the winner of the basket. Not me, bummer I guess it just wasn't our day to win anything. Then the kids and I headed out and went to Mike and Cheryl's for a bit and to pick up E to come spend the night.

The boys didn't get to bed until nearly 10, with all their talking and then were up and running at 5:00 this morning. On our way back from taking E home, Bug fell asleep and ended up taking almost a 2 hour nap. I had to wake him up so that he could go to the audition for Charlotte's web that the Children's Theater is putting on this winter. He ended up doing good on the singing part but not great on the acting part (which is backwards for him). So I don't know if he will get a part or not. I guess we will see on Tue, keep your fingers crossed for him. He is hoping to be one of the goslings.
