Busy Easter Weekend

We hosted an Easter Egg hunt for our MOMS club playgroup on Friday, we were hoping to have it outside but of course we had a big snow storm that morning, so we ended up splitting the group in 2 and have half hunt downstairs and half hunt upstairs. We ended up with around 13 kids and had over 250 eggs. We started out with decorating cookies while everybody arrived, then we did the egg hunt and then awarded prizes, (I had also hid #'d eggs) and then we were able to play outside a for a little while. Besides the snow it was an excellent day, in fact I was so busy that I didn't get a chance to take any pics of it. I will have to check around and see if I can get some from someone else.

After the egg hunt Bug went to our Church's Drive In Movie. This is an annual event that our church hosts for the kids (instead of an egg hunt) to give them the reason behind Easter. All the kids make their own box car (with help from mom & dad). Then they get to sit in their car and watch a movie about Easter and have dinner and snacks. Bug had a great time and as you can see from the pic his car (firetruck) turned out cute, I
think daddy did more than his fair share on it but Bug didn't seem to mind. It was definitely one of the cutest cars at the movie.
On Sat we went trolling for egg hunts. This is something we do every year. This year we hit 5 different hunts. We started out at 8am at one of our local supermarkets that has a very nice egg hunt for the kids. We even ran into one of our friends there. Bug did not do very well at this egg hunt, he kept running around in circles and not picking much of anything up of the 1000 or so eggs and prizes out there he picked up 2. One of the nice employees gave him a handful of candy afterwards. Then we headed to a place called Wonderland that I had noticed along the way to the 1st egg hunt. We were the 1st people there for it and thought this is going to be easy, but by the time it started a lot of big kids had shown up . They hid the eggs out on the miniature golf course and these eggs were hidden really well. This time bug also got only 2 eggs, but these were much harder to find. Next we headed to a local park that I heard puts on a nice hunt, Bug was in the groove at this one and picked up around 15 or so eggs and won a couple cute small prizes. After that we met up with Brenda and her little boy and went to our 2nd favorite egg hunt, that is held at a small church in our neighborhood, (Bug's school used to be held there, last year). Everybody there is really friendly and nice and they have tons of eggs and great prizes. Bug got somewhere between 50-100 eggs including two golden prize eggs which he turned in for a big bubble baton and a set of jacks. Finally we headed out to our Favorite Egg Hunt (w/ Brenda & son) out in a little town named Elk. This is a town of probably under a 1000 people and they hold it at the local VFW, this is the same place we went for the Xmas party back in Dec (see earlier post). Bug got about 1/2 dozen eggs there, but ended up being given a huge Easter basket that no one claimed. He loved it, it had a neat firefighter set in it along with a bunch of candy. He even ended up in the local newspaper, just him with a big grin and his basket. After that Brenda and I took the boys to McD's for some lunch and play time. It was a great day overall.
On Easter morning we had to go pick up Blue from the airport, his grandfather passed away a few weeks ago and they had a memorial service on Sat for him. Then my mom made us a nice Easter brunch when we got home. I would have liked to go out for Brunch but everyone else thought a nice brunch at home would be good. It turned out delicious and then we just spent a nice relaxing day all together, a rarity for us.
