Our Vacation so far...

Our vacation so far has been wonderful. We headed out early Sat morning and spent the day driving to Klamath Falls OR, where we stayed in a little hotel for the night. We actually got in fairly early around 5:30. Sooner than we thought we would, the drive was nice. We had time to get dinner and play at a park for awhile before settling in for the night.

Sunday on the other hand was a very long day of driving. We got into Solvang after 8:00 at night, pretty much checked in and got Bug off to bed. We did get to try out the hot tub for a little bit before hitting the sack. It was a bummer getting in so late, because the condo seemed very nice. We will have to stay at this location again some time, Solvang was a cute little village, similar in feel to Leavenworth. It would be fun to have some time to explore.

But we got up and after a brief stop at an authentic Danish Bakery for some danish and apple fritters, we headed south. We got to Universal Studios around 11 this morning and the park was nice and empty. Bug had never heard of Universal Studios, so he was excited but didn't know what to expect. We started out grabbing a bite to eat and then headed over to Terminator T2 3D, Bug was nervous about it, he doesn't like scary things or loud noises, which this had both. He ended up taking off the 3D glasses, but he made it through and said "that was awesome" afterwards. Then we went and played in the Curious George Jungle for a bit, which is just an area with a bunch of balls and air shooters all over the place. Next we went and did the studio tour, very fun. I love getting to see all of those sets, we even saw Wisteria Lane from Desperate Housewives. They had a couple cute and somewhat scary adventures along the way, the neatest one was an underground subway tunnel that goes through an earthquake with us in it. That was fun.

After that we did the Animal Show, that has animal actors putting on a show, Bug loved that one. Then we ate some lunch and went to see the Shrek in 4D show, very cute the 4th dimension is air and water that gets you as different things happen in the show. Bug missed a lot of that since he was too short for the air to get him and had his feet tucked up so none of the floor stuff got him. I think that was Bug's favorite show/ride of the day. After that we were going to go on the Simpson's ride, but Don and Bug decided not to go, so I went by myself. It was a very strange experience. They kind of shuffle you around from area to area and you eventually end up in this room with a couple other people. In each of the areas it tells you a bit of the story of this new theme park and about side show Bob breaking out of jail to come to the park, then it opens the doors and you sit down and away you go, very fun. It was a bummer the guys missed it.

We also made it to the last showing of Waterworld, Don really wanted to see that one, but Bug and I weren't sure about going. In the end we all loved it, it's not like the other shows/rides. So long as you don't sit in the "soak" zone, this one isn't interactive. It's just watching a big production in front of you. It's amazing what they can do in this small bit of water, very entertaining.

We finished out day at Universal, by grabbing some dinner and checking out our pictures from the day. We ended up buying 2 and almost stayed in budget for the day, an amazing feat for us.

Then we all loaded in the car and braved the LA freeways with their traffic and headed south to Anaheim and our Condo. Even though we are 3 blocks from Disney and there is Disney stuff everywhere around here, it has still not occurred to Bug that we are going to Disney. I told our resort host that he had no clue we were going and she just laughed. At one point someone even asked him if he had gone to Disney and he said "no, we went to some movie place today." I love that kid, he's so oblivious sometimes. But in a great way, he is having fun on our adventure and just trusts that mommy/daddy have something fun planned for him and he is up for it, no matter what it is. I can't wait to see his face tomorrow when we pull up to Disney Land.

The Anaheim resort that we are staying at is very nice, we are going to some upgrade thing in the morning for our timeshare, where they will tell us that latest and greatest things about our timeshare. I figured we'll go since we get free breakfast, a gift and a 50.00 Am/Ex card, free money for our trip. I guess I better get to bed, it will be a long day tomorrow. Disneyland is open from 9-9 and I'm sure we'll be there for it all.
