aaahhh, Time at the Lake

Image
Last week we took our new camper out for it's 1st real camping trip. We went out to Blue lake for 4 days with some friends. There ended up being 25 of us. It was a ton of fun, we went water skiing and took the kids inner tubing. They even had little peddle boats to rent to take out along the shore line (see pic). Bug's hair is really blond now and even with all the sunscreen he is quite the dark little indian. We had 12 kids there but Bug being the little individual that he is made fast friends with the little boy that lives at the camp ground and spent all his time with him. They were a good match, he was just as bossy and just as imaginative as Bug is, they had a great time and boy were they dirty. Just the way camping should be. Very relaxing and very fun, I even had time to catch up on some of my reading I have a stack of magazines a foot high that I hadn't gotten around to so it was nice to read through a few of them.

The garage sale "Queen" has returned.

Due to all the weird weather we have had around here this spring, I have not been able to go garage saleing the way I usually do, but have been making up for that the last 2 weekends. On the 14th was one of my favorite garage sale events. There is a little town by us named Liberty that the entire town has a sale usually over 250 houses participate. So I was up at 6 in the morning dressed and on the way. I was there just before 7 as people were just setting up. The toys I look for are getting harder to find lately or they are too much money. I did hit the jack pot right at the beginning though. There was a man who had some toys just sitting out at the corner, he had 1/2 a big toy, a car and a slide all for 20.00. All of which I turned around and sold for 100.00. It was a good start to the day. Since mom is not working as much lately I have hired her to go to other garage sales and look for stuff. She did fine her 1st weekend and made over 20.00 but this weekend she got desperate and bou...

He's in the Army now..... or is that the Marines?

Image
The local Parks and Rec put on a Camo Party at one of our local parks on Tue. So we got Cole's best camo outfit and away we went. It was raining pretty good out, so I was worried that it might be canceled but my husband said Army guys don't cancel due to rain and since I didn't get any phone calls we decided to check it out. There were about 10 boys there and it was run by 2 guys who I believe were ex marines, (I know one was but I am not positive about the other). They started out talking about the different branches of the military and what the symbols on the Marines hat stand for. Then they taught the boys to say "Sir, Yes Sir!" Which the boys liked but were not very good at remembering, they also taught them to line up and stand at attention. After this they took them over and taught them how to climb a rope (see pic 1), then they went for a run (in the rain, just like the real Army men), and then came back and had chow. The guys told them about a typical day...

Introductions

Image
I would like to introduce you all to the 2 new members of our family. They are 2 year old brothers, that we have named George & Cutie. They are of course our new Guinea Pigs. Here are some pics of Bug with his new friends. The pics on the left are George and the pics on the right are Cutie. Cutie has more white fur and is braver when he is out of the cage and George is more adventurous inside the cage. Bug is really enjoying his new friends.

Happy Memorial Weekend.

What a wonderful Memorial Weekend. It got off to a bit of a rocky start though. Bug's play did their stills (pics of the everybody in costume, in their different scenes) on Sat after the play. They were supposed to take an hour but after an hour and 45 min they still weren't done, but we took off anyway. So we ended up getting out to our friends L & K's around 7, just in time for the tail end of dinner. We set up camp and Bug found some of his friends to play with. They rode around in the powerwheels, played in the tree house and bounced on the trampoline. We even had a fire, though it started raining so that closed the evening down early. But our new (to us) camper did really well. The next morning we got up and everybody took turns riding on the ATV's. Bug even rode one of the small ones all by himself, I didn't get a pic of that for some reason. He had a blast though riding with me and then dad. Our friend's own about 7 acres and have made numerous tra...

Swims like a fish?

Image
Bug has been doing swimming lessons this week. One of the local colleges runs a swim lesson program and they just started a home school program. The water is so cold that bug has to wear a wetsuit and even with that he shivers the whole time, but he seems to be enjoying it. Swim lessons actually stress me out. Bug is not very driven when it comes to athletic things (I know he is just 5), but he has been is swimming lessons since he was 3. He has taken public, semi-private and private lessons for about 3 years now and he is still no where near swimming . He just finally moved out of the very basic class, the one where they are just trying to make them comfortable in the water. Some days as I am watching him I feel like he is going to be the only one who just never gets it. Even the lesson he is in stresses me out, he is in with 2 barely 4 year old kids (Bug will be 6 in a couple months). The kids his age are off swimming in another area and there he is hanging out with the babies and e...

Whheeewww!

Well Hell week is officially over. That is what they call the opening weekend and the preceding week before the play. It ends up being more like a week and a half. Bug had 2 performances today for local schools. They figure we had about 600 kids between the 2 shows. He had rehearsal last night, because they have to cut about an hour from the shows for the school day performances so they are not over an hour and a half. They completely cut 2 scenes that have pretty much just adults and edited a few others and got it down to about an hour and twenty minutes. Then we had a BBQ in between the 2 shows. I have to say this was probably the funnest day yet, except maybe last night. Bug was the only street boy to show up for rehearsal, (I'm not sure why). So he and I got to run his scenes together and he got to be the leader and say the line, "hey, let's get him," (meaning Sandy). Then we ran around and Annie grabbed me and I fell down and said "Let's get out of here!...
